Mezcal Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 dark chocolate Ghirardelli bar (72% cocoa)
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1-2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 oz mezcal
  • 1/2 oz crème de cacao
  • 2 dashes chocolate bitters
  • grated chocolate for garnish

Method
 

  1. Combine whole milk and dark chocolate bar (diced up) to a small pot. Let simmer over low heat and stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted. Set aside the hot chocolate.
  2. Combine heavy whipping cream and ground cinnamon to a mason jar, then shake vigorously until cream has thickened to desired whipped texture
  3. Add mezcal, creme de cacao and chocolate bitters to a mug.
  4. Stir.
  5. Add hot chocolate to the mug until the mug is about 3/4 of the way full.
  6. Add whipped cream to fill the rest of the glass.
  7. Garnish with grated chocolate.
